Status, further plans, feedback wanted
Yesterday The Chase was published first time, yoohoo :)
Reason for publish was not a game readiness - it's still prototype to collect feedback. Because there are so much ways to go further and it's hard to decide where to go next w/o feedback.
In general this game is about the fun of free road races, also known as "Cat & Mouse" races. Race track competitions were introduced as a logical continuation of racer's career. Other meaning of tracks are to test your tuned car and compare track times with performance on regular roads with traffic. Handling and brakes sometimes better than engine power :)
Currently basic gameplay is implemented: car behavious, powerUps (tuning), AI behaviours for roads and race tracks, traffic, bonus/penalty system. Next global task is to refine or even totally rebuild system around basic gameplay.
Main further technical tasks are:
- Rewrite road AI, because race track AI is much better
- Rewrite traffic system to make it more controllable
Further tasks to tune game balance are:
- Better scoring/money system - current build allows to receive much money even after the 1st race
- Refine/extend tuning system to allow several strategies, i.e. road races on low-power car and high-power one requires completely different tuning of cars to consider them as equals
What I expect from from 1st release - feedback :)
- What is unclear, how to make game process simplier and more convenient
- Thoughts to increase immersion
- Are there any issues with camera or controls?
Next posts probably will be about game goal and additional features not yet implemented.
Please, leave your feedback, what you expected and what you get from current build and what you want in future.
